Churches in Yerevan

Many of the churches in Yerevan were demolished when Armenia was part of the Soviet Union. Small Katoghike church was spared when it was found from the interior of a larger church that was being torn down. Some other churches remained too, such as Zoravor Church in the middle of a housing block.

Since Armenia regained its independence, some new churches has been built in the city. The most significant on is the Cathedral of Saint Gregory the Illuminator (Grigor Lusavorich), Patriarch of the Armenian Church.

Unfortunately some of the church photos were lost when I lost my camera in a Yerevan taxi.
