Noraduz cemetery and village

Noraduz, or Noratus, is a village close to Gavar town in Gegharkunik province of Armenia, not far from the shore of Lake Sevan.

The village is best known for its ancient cemetery. It has largest concentration of khachkar stones in the current Armenia (after destruction of Julfa cemetery in Nakhchivan it is now the largest in world).

Khachkars are traditional Armenian cross-stones which are often used as tombstones.

There is also a large new cemetery adjacent to the old one. We visited both sides and then walked through Noraduz village to the highway where we took a minibus to the south.
