The blog is not updated anymore. New photosets are published at the Albums section of my travel photos site. Single images are added to Picture by picture photo pages.
Jätkäsaari container port
Most of the port operations in Jätkäsaari container harbour close to the city centre of Helsinki are already moved to new Vuosaari port which is officially taken in use on Friday, Nov 28th, 2008. The passenger services of the West Harbour will stay (mainly ferries to Tallinn and cruise ships in the summer).
I had opportunity to visit the container port just about a month before its closure. Below are some photographs from that visit.
