Dominica's Leeward (Caribbean) coast is not as exposed to the winds as the Windward (Atlantic) coast. Also the mountains are smaller and less steep on the Caribbean side of the island. Hence, it is not a surprise that most of Dominica's population live in the west. That's where Roseau, the capital of Dominica, also lies.
We came to Dominica from Guadeloupe by a L'Express des îles catamaran ferry. The photographs below are taken from the sea.
