Moscow and Volga 2007

My bestman Hanne and I, we decided at spring 2007 that in June, we will go together to Russia. My fiancée Mari was not able to come although it would have been nice to have her with us (particularly because she spoke so much better Russian than Hanne or I).

Russia is a big country and it took some time to negotiate which part of it we should head to. Hanne would have liked to go to Siberia while I preferred southern parts of Russia and the Black Sea (possibly Ukraine, too). As a compromise solution we decided to go to river Volga, more particularly to the republics of Tatarstan and Mari El.

Our itinerary was Helsinki – St. Petersburg – Moscow – Holmi festival – Kazan – Yoshkar-Ola – Moscow – Tver – St. Petersburg – Helsinki (last few etapes I made alone since Hanne stayed in Moscow). Accommodation was mostly arranged via Hospitality Club network.
