Moscow and Volga 2007
I had been talking about a trip to Russia with my bestman Hanne. Hence we decided to go there together in June, 2007. My fiancée Mari was not able to come which was a pity (particularly as she speaks much better Russian than Hanne or I).
Russia is a big country and it took some time to negotiate which part of it we should head to. Hanne would have liked to go to Siberia while I preferred southern parts of Russia and the Black Sea (possibly Ukraine, too). As a compromise solution we decided to go to river Volga, more particularly to the republics of Tatarstan and Mari El.
Our itinerary was Helsinki – St. Petersburg – Moscow – Holmi festival – Kazan – Yoshkar-Ola – Kozmodemyansk – Moscow – Tver – St. Petersburg – Helsinki (last few etapes I made alone since Hanne stayed in Moscow).
Accommodation was mostly arranged via Hospitality Club accommodation network (if you are going to Moscow, check my friend's site about hotels in Moscow).
